OUR DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT APPROACH

DREAM | DESIGN | DELIVER

At Pegmatis, we have established a highly flexible design and development process that is adaptable to meet our customers’ unique requirements and focus on their business outcomes. Our proven design approach comes from many years of experience launching high quality, integrated products into mass production with Fortune 1000 organizations.

Empathize
We start the process by gathering real insights about our customer and their objectives and this provides us with a strong foundation for the project. Our goal is through collaboration, to gain a shared understanding of our customer’s needs and to envision an achievable solution strategy.

Define
At this stage we develop a meaningful, actionable problem statement. Looking at “current state” versus desired “future state” and defining a clear objective that addresses all the stakeholder’s requirements.

Ideate
A critical transitional step in the process, it is at this point that we start coming up with potential solutions.

Planning
By this stage we have learned about our customer and their objectives, we have a clearer understanding of the problem we need to solve, and we identify the necessary resources to assist on the project. We identify major risks. We create a project strategy and plan that engages our cross-functional teams. Planning includes more than just the development strategy. There are test planning, certification planning and other issues to consider.

Research
With in-depth research we hypothesize solutions that mitigate risk, improve efficiency to save time, money and resources. All with the aim of basing future decisions on concrete evidence.

Prototype
Steve Jobs once said; “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” This is where the rubber meets the road, at this stage we execute and validate and question the following from our research efforts: How will users interact and react? Will it work in the real world? Can it be manufactured?

Execution
By now, we’ve knocked the risks down. We’re heads down in to the design and development execution phase. Always maintaining our collaborative and informative working relationship with you.

Testing
Pegmatis incorporates testing into every stage of the process, our motto is test early, test often. Once we have a prototype we iterate, refine, rework and make improvements ensuring a market ready solution.

Production
DfX is a big part of our process. D stands for Design and the X is all aspects of successful production – Manufacturing, Quality, Assembly and ultimately, Test. Our designs meet all necessary aspects for seamless production. Our entire team is usually engaged at this level, and we ensure that all aspects are covered thoughtfully. For example, tooling, materials, components and firmware. Are they all available for production rollout? We accomplish this by being present at the factory, assessing proper test coverage, high yields and quality, with low manufacturing costs. We are not happy until we close all open requirements, confident you have a competent manufacturer, and that your product costs are aligned.
